The cocky little cretin who put together a deliberately falsified video about ACORN employees and later invaded Sen. Mary Landrieu’s offices under false pretense has pleaded guilty along with his co-conspirators to misdemeanors in the Landrieu crime. A plea-bargain deal let them escape serious felony charges with a slap on the wrist.
Federal Magistrate Judge Daniel Knowles III sentenced O’Keefe, as leader of the group and in consideration of his deceptive behavior in the ACORN videos, to three years of probation, a fine of $1,500 and 100 hours of community service. Co-conspirators Stan Dai, Joseph Basel and Robert Flanagan were each sentenced to two years probation, a fine of $1,500 and 75 hours of community service during their first year of probation. Flanagan’s father is acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana William J. Flanagan. Just sayin’.
O’Keefe was unrepentant at a press conference outside the courthouse after the sentencing:
“Some say we have created a new genre. We have only resurrected one. It is called the truth. I plan to release a video soon of another organization we all know very well.”
Snot-nosed little punk wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him on the ass.
Best line of the proceedings came from Magistrate Knowles, who quoted Robert Flanagan’s wife’s statement to investigators during questioning:
“How could he get caught up in something so stupid?”
Amen to that.
